Comparison vs Happiness

It happens to all of us, the comparison trap. I have been feeling it weighing on me heavily lately.  Comparing to others may seem like a great motivation to better yourself. The comparisons to others are endless; house decoration, outfit inspirations, vacations, fitness or getting in shape or even jobs! This all seems great in concept. Looking at a fitness picture of someone who you want to look like gives you something to strive and aim for when working out. However, I find it always leads to negative self-thought about your current state.

Why not enjoy where you are? I’m not saying we should not strive to change. I just want to be able to enjoy myself during the transformation. Unfortunately, I find that I do not let myself fully enjoy things because I am not “where I want to be”.  This is where the comparison trap gets me. So I am saying so long to comparing myself to others. I am giving myself permission to enjoy where I am  and making the most of my amazing life. My goal is to make daily choices that will enable me to become a better version of myself while enjoying the transformation process.

  1. thank you for this post!! i'm glad i'm not the only one who falls into this trap (and quite often i might add!) it's the worst feeling and i have to keep telling myself to be happy with ME.

  2. I really enjoyed reading this post. It's so relatable. I know I often get caught up in comparison and it never leads to anything good but feeling bad about my place in my life. So it's good to hear I'm not the only one, and you've given encouragement to help break the curse :)

  3. This is so true! We tend to get caught up in other people's journeys. We should really just focus on our own...we don't really even know if others have it as good as we imagine they do!

  4. I love all these quotes. It is a really hard thing to do, but not comparing ourselves to others really helps so much! I like the way you think :)

  5. What a wonderful and relatable post. This is something that I am constantly working on. Try to remember that God has you where you are for a reason, it helps me not let the comparison get the better of me.
