My Fitness Reinforcement

Fitness for me has been a journey. This journey started my senior year of college when I  started watching what I ate starting running. In May 2009, I ran my 1st 5k and really started to love running and how being fit made me feel. Since then I have tried many different types of exercise including spinning, hot yoga, group classes, zumba, strength training and Pilates. I have even ran a few half-marathons and trained for a marathon. Although I have been working out consistently for four years now it is still something that I have to work on daily. Right now with the hectic schedule of work, I find it even harder to make sure I make fitness a daily priority.

Since summer is only 4 weeks around the corner I want to make sure I am bringing my fitness A-game daily so I can look and feel my best at the beach. To keep myself accountable I have made a daily chart to keep track of my progress.

I have this printed out on my fridge where I can see it daily. I am currently training for a 5k in June so my morning cardio will be alternating running and walking depending on the plan. The Meta-D drink is a recipe by which includes Apple Cider Vinegar, Cinnamon and Cayenne Pepper. It helps with digestion and bloat. For meals, I want to make healthy choices at each meal. My afternoon workout is going to be alternating Pure Barre or an toning routine depending on my schedule. 

My goal is to complete an average of 6/7 squares each day. If I meet my goal for the entire week, I earn a reward! I am thinking of treating myself  to a manicure :) This is a very modified version of a reinforcement chart that we use with kiddos at school. Since I am working at many behaviors which affect my overall fitness instead of one specific behavior it is harder to define.

High Five for Friday 5.17

Yet another busy week has flown by! It feels like everyone at school especially the teachers are in countdown mode each day marking down the days until the end of school. I am very excited for summer but also realize that there is a lot of working long nights and weekends in between myself and June 13!

That being said... I have am always thankful to see another Friday!

1. I am thankful for my resilient mother. She had to have emergency hip surgery Monday. The first thing she asked about in recovery was when she could get out on the boat again! I admire her enthusiasm for life and hope to carry some of it with me always. 

2. This sweet face will be coming home to live with us in a few weeks. Baby boy does not have a name yet but I can not wait to take him to the beach and spoil him rotten!

3. I am loving that it is getting warm again! Warm weather = running at the beach in cute work out clothes. These may be on their way to my house as we speak :)

4. I just discovered Spotify this week. I believe it is Pandora for people who want to feel in control of their music at all times. (Limitless skips= my bliss!) 

5. I finally joined 2013 and got a trendy pair of sunglasses. I am loving my new Ray Bans. I decided on the New Wayfair style with the tortise frames. Ever since I picked them up last week it is all I have been wearing. I am kicking myself all week for not getting a pair sooner!
